A super fan collected every Super Nintendo game manual and made them free

Video game consoles have come a long way since the Super Nintendo arrived in the U.S. in 1991 and launched a new generation of gamers, but sometimes there is no beating the classics. The console was wildly popular, with more than 700 games released for the system in the U.S., and Kerry Hays (aka "Peebs" on the Twitch streaming platform) has been working on beating every. "We had wondered, some of these games, had anyone ever even beaten them before? They were so weird and obscure or difficult," he said.

I still remember the pure ecstasy I felt that Christmas my parents got me a Super Nintendo. I'd played video games at friends' houses, so I knew I'd be able to use the controller without a problem, even though I'd be using my feet due to a disability in my arms and hands. Many hours were consumed with Donkey Kong, Super Mario World, and even the incredibly frustrating Paperboy.
Here comes the drop(kick): The sick beats in 'Streets of Rage'
"Streets of Rage 4" is developed by three indie studios, Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games. The Streets series was Sega's answer to the popular arcade brawler, "Final Fight," made by Capcom. In the '90s, the popular series was exclusive to the Super Nintendo. "Streets of Rage" would be its dirty competition: grittier in style and crunchier in feeling. It would eventually become the game that could turn any Nintendo fan from grateful to envious.
This Is What a Super Nintendo Plus Magic Looks Like
There's another Super Nintendo on the block, and this one means business. Not the lucrative sort Nintendo's sold out Super NES Classic seems to be doing as availability bulletins circulate like whispers of a ghost. Nor the steady sort Nintendo's handheld 3DS has been up to for years, dishing up choice SNES downloads by way of its Virtual Console. But business the way an audio engineer means when retooling decades-old tunes for playback on modern audio hardware. Or as a film preservationist does when cleaning and converting acetate film to digital ones and zeroes. It's called the Super Nt, plays some of the medium's most treasured games (like Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past), and judging from the literature its Seattle-based boutique hardware-maker sent over, it's poised to be a Super Nintendo nonpareil.

Between Fidel Castro's death and the new American president, it's hard to know what's next for U.S.-Cuba relations. But partnerships are already underway, including one involving Cuba's first independent video game design company and a U.S. foundation that helped it get started.

Of Course Nintendo Should Release A Mini Super Nintendo
The mini NES Classic Edition has been the holiday season's hottest toy, flying off the shelves far faster than retailers could keep up with thanks to a far too limited supply. So this is very likely our first clue that Nintendo is planning to release a mini Super Nintendo Classic Edition, possibly as 2017's next hot toy (though I wouldn't be surprised if it was 2018.) An SNES Classic Edition makes perfect sense. The Super Nintendo was an even more impressive console than the NES, with better games and better looking games. In many ways, it was a high-point for Nintendo, firmly establishing the Japanese game maker as the premiere video game company in the world.
Super Nintendo and me: growing up, recession and role-playing adventures
I don't remember a time we didn't have video games in the house. I grew up in Gregory, Michigan, a small town in the middle of nowhere; a town that literally borders Hell. I wish I was kidding. My dad was a second shift supervisor at a General Motors plant in Detroit. He always wanted to have the latest expensive things; we owned an early home PC and he'd bring home these floppy discs filled with games – they would trade them around at his office.

My pointless quest to achieve perfect retro console fidelity
Without getting too deep into the AV nerd wormhole -- and I am certainly no expert on this matter -- the short of it is that that old video game consoles were designed in very small resolutions specifically for old CRT televisions. You remember those old bulky beasts that took two grown men to lift? They had actual cathode ray guns inside of them that drew the image on the screen with a spray of electrons. Old consoles (we're talking pre-PlayStation 2) were designed to make use of this specific process: They relied on CRT-specific features like scanlines (this usually refers to the horizontal black lines that noticeably ran through the image), color bleed between the lines, and interlacing. So when you plug one of these systems into a modern HDTV, the signal has to be treated and interpreted for your big shiny flat panel.
